Back when I was at Apple, I wanted to move into creative work, except I didn’t have a portfolio. A very nice creative director in Marcom had a coffee with me and said “I don’t care if you have a portfolio, just show me you can write.”

So I went to a coffee shop that night and using a plug-in called Firebug, I rewrote copy for some sites that really needed the help.

I used some of these mockups in my first real creative writer interview at Uber, so they’ll always have a special place in my portfolio. And as inspiration strikes me, I continue to make up my own ads.
